This heart crochet baby blanket is a beginner level crochet pattern, and is suitable for those just starting out with crochet, or looking for an easy but effective pattern to churn out in a couple of evenings.
This pattern makes a blanket approximately 65cm wide by 90cm long. I used pure NZ Merino (it's chunky approx. 7mm wide) for the example shown in the pattern and a 12mm crochet hook. You could use;
- Martta The Merino 100g from edie & co
- Martta The Merino 200g from edie & co
- Moda Vera Wonder Wool 100g from Spotlight
- Abbey Road Born To Be Wool 100g from Spotlight
- Crucci Rhythm 100g from Knitworld
This pattern works just as well when a chunky is used with a 15mm hook to make a larger blanket. To make a smaller blanket use a finer yarn with the appropriate hook size for that yarn.
If you are struggling to find a chunky yarn that you like, this pattern will work with two strands of yarn suitable for a 6mm or 7mm hook. When you use two strands it should be suitable for a 12mm or 15mm hook. You could use;
If you prefer to work with a finer yarn, you should be able to repeat the pattern across and add more repeating rows to make a larger blanket in a smaller weight yarn.
